Name That Tune

Quickie Quiz: What famous song has these lyrics?

Well, now, take down your fishin’ pole and meet me at The Fishin’ Hole,
We may not get a bite all day, but don’t you rush away.

What a great place to rest your bones and mighty fine for skippin’ stones,
You’ll feel fresh as a lemonade, a-settin’ in the shade.

Whether it’s hot, whether it’s cool, oh what a spot for whistlin’ like a fool.

What a fine day to take a stroll and wander by The Fishin’ Hole,
I can’t think of a better way to pass the time o’ day.

We’ll have no need to call the roll when we get to The Fishin’ Hole,
There’ll be you, me, and Old Dog Trey, to doodle time away.

If we don’t hook a perch or bass, we’ll cool our toes in dewy grass,
Or else pull up a weed to chaw, and maybe set and jaw.

Hangin’ around, takin’ our ease, watchin’ that hound a-scratchin’ at his fleas.

Come on, take down your fishin’ pole and meet me at The Fishin’ Hole,
I can’t think of a better way to pass the time o’ day.

And now for something completely different: A creepy Russian singing a cowboy song (click here).

Random, eh? Oh yeah?

March

Due to a surprisingly busy schedule this month, we’ve been frequenting food-to-go a few more times than usual.

Young cousin doing the Flat Stanley thing, we’re helping her out.

Dad taking us out for dinner at our favorite Georgetown Asian fusion dumpling bar.

Looking forward to spring. Everyone likes flowers!

To a troubled friend

“We are to be re-made. All the rabbit in us is to disappear – the worried, conscientious, ethical rabbit as well as the cowardly and sensual rabbit. We shall bleed and squeal as the handfuls of fur come out; and then, surprisingly, we shall find underneath it all the thing we have never yet imagined: a real Man, an ageless god, a son of God, strong, radiant, wise, beautiful, and drenched in joy”

~ C.S. Lewis, God in the Dock

You have and always will be my friend and brother, Jeffery Paul.
